The test site, called DevLoop, is located in the Nevada desert in the western United States, which is 500 meters long and weighs more than 1 million kilograms. When completed in the next few months, this structure will expand to a length of 3 kilometers. The current test system can not carry passengers, it only runs tests to see how it works.

The project was first proposed by Elon Musk, the company’s chief executive, in 2012. Initially the idea set a new way of shipping between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Since Musk came up with the idea, many companies and hundreds of research teams have been involved in this project. The Hyperloop One propulsion system was launched in May last year and in October, they announced they would continue to build the facility in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. This pipeline runs 159km and takes only 12 minutes by Hyperloop, the corresponding time when traveling by car is 2 hours.
The company said the pipeline would be completed by 2020, but before launching, they needed to run tests to ensure public safety and efficiency.
Despite being the most advanced form of transportation up to this point, many still question whether technical feasibility and price are reasonable.

According to a leaked document, the total cost of Dubai’s Hyperloop was $ 4.8 billion – more than $ 30 million a kilometer.
