416 pilot whales were stranded at Cape Farewell (New Zealand) early morning on 10/2.

The government and people just rescued more than 100 children. The Guardian said the New Zealand Conservation Department has detected 416 whales stranded at Cape Farewell (of Golden Bay, the southernmost tip of New Zealand). At dawn on 10/2, over 70% of them were dying.

“We try to guide whales swim out to sea, but they would not listen. The fish swim wherever they want. Unless some of the first members decided overlooking the sea, while the remaining fish will swim above the sea, ” the Guardian quoted Andrew Lamason, captain of the rescue team Conservation.

Beach still full of the bodies of around 300 whales have died overnight. However, the authorities have not yet began to clean properly, they decided to “focus on the child alive.” Whale stranding phenomenon usually occurs in Golden Bay, shallow waters make fishing here can hardly escape once they were swimming in. This was beached whale third largest in New Zealand history. In 1918, more than 1,000 whales were beached on the Chatham Islands. New Zealand is also coun largest whale stranding world. Each year about 300 whales, dolphins access to the coast this country and can not return to the sea. It is not clear the cause of the mass stranding this. Most of the stranded whales services in New Zealand are often only a few individuals.
